A surprise 40th wedding anniversary party was held for Sheila and William Ryan on Thursday, July 16 hosted by their children.

The party was held in the garden at the home of Mr. Ryan’s brotherin-law Marshall Boarman, on the comer of Main and Porter.

Mr. and Mrs. Ryan were wed July 16,1962 in the fifteenth century church of Saint Anne, Briges, Belgium. The solemn high nuptial mass was celebrated by the Rev. Ernan McMullen of Donegal, Ireland.

The Ryans live in Amissville and have six children Mark, William, Susan, Peter, Robyn and Marshall and two grandchildren Kristina and Tommy.

Mr. Ryan who was president of the Export-1mport Bank during the Reagan administration retired several years ago.

Those here to help the Ryans celebrate were Mark Ryan, William Ryan and Susan Ryan, all of New York City, N.Y., Robyn Ryan Brechbill and her husband Billy of Tusquitee, N.C., Peter Ryan, his wife Linda and children Kristina and Tommy of Front Royal, Marshall Ryan and wife Susan of Summit, N.J. and Mr. Boarman.
