The town’s Architectural Review board (ARB), after lengthly deliberation, approved all three petitions before it last week.
Furniture maker Tom Von Fange was given approval to put a sign flat against the wall of his display room. The sign, 66” by 16”, wil) be placed on the building across Gay Street from the Baptist Church.
Mr. Von Fange said after the meeting that the shop in Washington will be a display room only. He will continue to make furniture at his shop on Va. 231 south of Sperryville at the former site of Cave’s Store.
The ARB took more time to approve George Samoszenko’s application to cover the exterior of his house on Piedmont Street with vinyl siding. Board member Ed Barton said he felt vinyl siding is a viable alternative, especailly in cases like this one.
Mr. Samoszenko’s was built in stages and the sidings on the various sections do not match. "I would rather look at his house fixed up than the way it looks now,” Mr. Barton added. “With the Smoot house
