The 25th running of the Rappahannock Point-to-Point Races on March 3 will have a “new brush look.” With the introduction of the Durant Hill Hurdle, Rappahannock’s nine-event race card now boasts two races over brush; one an open race and one for owner-riders. Last year, the brush race - with minimum weight set at 145 pounds, open to professional and amateurs alike - had so many entries it had to be run in two sections. This year the same open hurdle will be the fourth race on the card. The new Durant Hill Hurdle race, the sixth event, is the innovation and will be offered for owner-riders with minimum weight of 175 pounds.

Howard Amos Clark of Amissville is among the 43 young men who graduate Friday, February 2 from State Police Basic Training School at headquarters of the Virginia State Police in Richmond. Trooper Clark will be assigned to Manassas after graduation.

Flint Hill were out of operation for one and a half hours on Monday night. Bill Flippo, service manager at Centel’s Front Royal office, said that the problem was caused by a broken ringing generator. At 8:00 p.m. his office first received reports that phones on the 675 exchange would not ring. The duty supervisor found that the trouble was in the ringing mechanism in Washington. A new generator
