1, at the Rappahannock County Library. This is a puppet show and winter story time. Children of all ages are inv it ed to attend.
Also. .at the Rappahannock County Library, will be a presentation on Friday, Feb. 5, at 8 p.m. on the exploration of the geology of Rappahannock County. Guest speaker will be Richard Tollo, Professor of Geology at George Washington University since 1983.
The presentation sounds very intriguing. The research is concerned with deciphering the pre-Appalachian geologic history as preserved in granite rocks extending from near Ashby Gap near Paris, VA through the Castleton area to Charlottesville.
The research shows volcanic rocks that were erupted in this area at the time as rifting that wore apart an ancient continental predecessor to North America about 700 million years ago.
Professor Tollo invites the public to bring their “mystery rocks" for identification. Admission is free. Refreshments will follow.
In church news, Amissville Baptist Older Adult Fellowship meet at the home of Thornton and Iva Lam at 6 p.m. Jan. 27.
The Young Adult Fellowship meet at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 5 at the home of Glen and Beverly Burke. The men will be doing the cooking.
