will set up their displays in the RCES Multipurpose Room. Exploratory Division Classes (K-5) are entering group projects. Students in grades 5 - 8 compete as individuals within the Junior Division. Students from grades 9 to 12 enter the Senior Division competition.
Local winners will receive plaques, ribbons and invititations to the Piedmont Regional Science Fair to be held in Charlottesville on March 12. Senior Division winners, at Charlottesville continue on to the State Science Fair and possibly even to the International Science Fair at Mississippi Beach.
Across the country, science fairs provide opportunities for students to actually do science themselves, and to show’ off their achievements.
Students begin by writing a background Research Paper. Then they plan and carry out an experiment, collect data, and interpret the results. The fair is the culmination, as students showcase their projects for the judges and the general public.
Awards will be presented to winning students on Friday afternoon. The 1992-92 Rappahannock Science Fair is jointly sponsored by the, RCES Parent-Teacher Organization, by the Gifted and Talented Program, and by the Science Departments.
