Beauty contest j

The Castleton Fire and Rescue Department will be hosting a! womanless beauty contest at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12 at Rappahan-} nock High School. First, second and third prize will be awarded for the} prettiest beauties. Buffet breakfast j

The Washington Volunteer Fire Department will hold a buffet* breakfast from 7-11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13 at the fire hall. The* menu will consist of sausage, bacon, biscuits, gravy, cereal, eggs, pan-! cakes, hash browns, fried apples, milk, coffee, tea, juice and hot choco-} late. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children.

Dance at Amissville :

The Amissville Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a dance} from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the fire hall on Saturday, Feb. 20. The band} Royal Tones will perform. Proper dress and identification is required.1 For more information or reservations call Sheila Scott at 973-4357.

First Friday program j

Friday, Feb. 5, the library’s First Friday Series presents “Be-} neath Our Feet”, an exploration of the geology of Rappahannock* County. The speaker will be Richard Tollo, professor of geology at! George Washington University. Mr. Tollo and his students have done! extensive research on rock formations in the Massies Corner-Castle-} ton area and will show slides and specimens from those studies. He en-| courages the public to bring any area “mystery rocks" for* identification. The free program is at 8 p.m. in the library’s meeting! room with refreshments to follow. }

Baseball, softball registration j

The Rappahannock Athletic Association (RAA) will hold baseball* registration for children five years old by Dec. 31,1992 and not over 18* by Aug. 1 and girls softball ages seven-15 years old will be held from! 10a.m.-2 p.m. Feb. 13, 20, and 27. The locations will be at the Flint! Hill fire hall. Rappahannock High School and Amissville fire hall. Cost} is $25 for first child, $20 for second child and $15 for each family mem-J ber thereafter.
