The entire U.S. 29 Transportation Corridor stretches from Washington, D.C., to Greensboro, NiC. However, this study specifically !focues on the portion of U.S. 29 in Virginia between Route 66 and Route 64, and between Interstate 95 and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
“Included in this study is the issue of rights-of-way. I have sponsored a bill that expedites the purchase of the rights-of-way. It would require that the Virginia Department of Transportation purchase land that has been designated for highway development within three years,” said Del. Van Yahres.
In addition, to reviewing highway transportation, the study will also examine rail and air transportation options that will be important in future residential and commercial development.
The study requires the input of local government.
