waivers would be granted for a year to motorists who cars are repaired yet keep failing.
However, unlike the old inspection system, service stations only can test cars, not repair them. Haskell noted that there are 400 stations around Northern Virginia that inspect emissions and that state is considering building its own centers to perform the new, tougher inspections.
That plan had some Northern Virginia lawmakers expressing concern about the government going into the inspection business and perhaps forcing service stations out of business. ‘It doesn’t make any damn sense,* said Sen. Richard Saslaw (D35th District).
Library will host
reading workshop
The Literacy Volunteers of Rappahannock have scheduled a series of workshops titled Reading with Children.
The workshops will be held every fourth Monday at the county library at 7 p.m. The five sessions are designed to help parents turn their children on to reading.
Workshop leaders will review reading and story telling skills, and discuss how picture books and books on tape can be used to encourage children to “dive into books.” Baby sitting will be provided.
