Pearl Harbor talk
Jesse E. Pond Jr., of Sperryville, will be autographing copies of his book. “The Square Peg: A Tight Fit in a Tin Can,” at 7 p.m. Feb. 8 in the Rappahannock County Library.
Mr. Pond joined the Navy in October, 1940, because he knew that there was trouble coming and he was looking for a place to plant his feet and fight back.
On Dec. 7, 1941, his feet were on a destroyer moored at Pearl Harbor. That was certainly the most exciting day of his naval career.
