went to the concert hall first thing. There we sat for about 20 minutes. When everyone was present, we got on stage and practiced our moves; how we would get on and off, and which direction we would face, etc.
We went through the piece one time (It’s amazing how much you-can remember when you need to), and then Clarence Clemons and Will Smith joined us on stage. I think they were the highlight of that day.
Other than that, the day, believe it or not, was boring.
Tuesday, we had to get up early in the morning to make it to the dress rehearsal at 6:15 a.m. The dress was a dark suit, white dress shirt, black socks, black shoes and black shades.
The dress rehearsal was really great because after we, the Symphony of Saxophones, were finished with our opening act, we got to sit in the house and watch the rest of the performers (Boyz II Men, Vanessa Williams, Kenny Loggins, etc.)
We got to see them without all their makeup and glitz that they put on for television. And we saw them behaving like real people, not acting.
