The Special Education Advisory Committee will meet at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept.. 21, in Room 7 of the Rappahannock County Elementary School. The meeting is open to the public.
The Department of Education regulations for special education requires there be a local advisory committee for special education appointed by the School Board to advise the board through the superintendent. The committee must include parents of children with disabilities.
Local school division personnel serve only as consultants to the committee.
The advisory committee advises the school system of unmet needs in the education of children with disabilities, assists in the formulation and development of long-range plans to provide needed education services, participates in developing priorities and strategies for meeting the identified needs of such children, submits periodic reports and recommendations to the superintendent to transmit to
