Mr. O’Bannon was a lifetime member and deacon at Woodville Baptist Church.
He was the Rappahannock News Citizen of the Year in 1991. He served on the county school board for 22 years.
Mr. O'Bannon is survived by his wife of 48 years, Louise Rudasill O’Bannon; two sons. Dr. John Maurice O’Bannon III of Richmond and Robert Hill O’Bannon of Culpeper and two daughters, Elizabeth O.Scott and Martha O’Bannon-Hitt, both of Woodville.
He is also survived by five grandchildren, John Harding O’Bannon, Virginia Louise O’Bannon, Andrew Hill O’Bannon, Jason Matthew O’Bannon and Katie Ann O’Bannon.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Sept. 5 at Woodville Baptist Church with the Rev. L. Starke Jones officiating.
Interment followed in Woodville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Allen Y. Stokes, Timothy W. Norman, Timothy D. Falls, James W. Leake, James H. Falls, Charles K. Estes, John H. Jenkins and Huey L. Atkins.
