The recently-formed Friends of the Theatre at Washington plans to open the new season at the Theatre at Washington with an innovation of its own.
Following the piano recital by Martin Berkofsky on Sunday the Friends are inviting the audience to meet the internationally-known pianist at a reception.
Born in the U.S. in 1943, of Russian ancestry, Berkofsky was a child prodigy who went on to win the National Music League Young Artists Competition. After living and performing abroad for many years he has now settled in the Piedmont area of Virginia.
The post-concert reception will be held at the Middle Street Gallery, a short walk from the Theatre. An added attraction at the reception will be the Gallery’s new exhibition of drawings and sculpture by political cartoonist Jeff MacNelly, which opens on Saturday.
Wine will be served, courtesy of Farfelu Vineyards, and light refreshments will be served courtesy of Patrick O’Connell and Reinhardt Lynch of The Inn at Little Washington.
