Stonewall Jackson, and the two Page County high schools, Page County and Luray, in a new Shenandoah District with six teams.
The Skyline District with six teams including Madison County and the James River District with seven teams make up the rest of Region B of the Group A schools in the league.
Mr. Raines told the Booster Club last month that if RCHS ends up in the new four-team Bull Run District, he will try to schedule non-district games with long-term rivals in the new Shenandoah District.
Principals and athletic directors of the other schools in the four-school district are pleased with the new alignment because it will be easier to advance to regional competition. In some sports the district champion and second place team advance. In that case it would only be necessary to defeat two schools to advance to regional competition.
For those schools the new district also means less long-distance transportation to away games since they would probably play their non-district games with AA schools in Northern Virginia.
