Opposition carried over to the School Board's Tuesday night meeting as two of the parents from Monday, Pat Davis and Bill Payne, appeared again to express their opposition to the policy.
They said the policy is targeting the wrong students, that their children always make up missed work and make good grades.

Parent Bonnie Lofton said she had been a member of the committee that drafted the new policy. She said she had gone into the process feeling the same way that Mrs. Davis and Mr. Payne felt, but after listening to teachers describe the difficulties they have teaching when many students are absent, she had come to realize that her daughter's absences could affect learning in school.
