To WCDS
To the Editor:
I realize that impartiality, lack of bias and objectivity have become all too rare in today's journalists, but somehow one expects a community newspaper to be just that — a newspaper of and for the community it serves.
All the community — not just those elements which reflect only the editor's interests. If one had paid careful attention to the headlines of the last five weeks, it would be reasonable to conclude that 1) nothing ever happens in Rappahannock county unless it happens at the county's public schools, and 2) that there are no other schools in this county nor are there any children that attend day schools elsewhere. Are those "other" children going back to school? Do those schools have any new teachers or new facilities? Or the children who are home-schooled? How did they do on something like the'Literacy test?
As a parent of a longtime WCDS student, I've become accustomed to either having WCDS news not included in my local paper, or when it is, relegated to a few obscure paragraphs in the back of the first section. Nor do I hear much about those county children who attend schools in Fauquier county. O.K., fair enough, but now I see
