Learn to draw the figure from the model using your choice of medium.
Ned Bittinger award winning artist, instructor, and illustrator, will conduct a figure drawing class this fall at Shimmering Meadows Farm Studio located in Slate Mills between Culpeper and Sperryville, on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The class will run for nine weeks beginning Sept. 23 and ending on Nov. 20.
The class is part instruction and part open studio Mr. Bittinger will stress the traditional approach to figure drawing. Methods for determining proportion, gesture, angles of pose, and value will be taught. Classes will begin with short warm-up poses. Then the remainder of the class will consist of one long pose. This class is designed for all drawing levels, so beginning and intermediate students are encouraged to participate.
Mr. Bittinger, a Rappahannock County resident, studied at The Corcoran School of Art and received his B.F.A.. from Denison University in Ohio and his M.F.A. from George Washington university in Washington, DC.
He taught pastel painting at The Art League School and drawing and etching at the National Collection of Fine Arts in Washington, D.C. He has been a professional artist for over 22 years.
