231. The defendants said that they had gone to the house, which they believed to be haunted, along with two juveniles and Gari Allen Kelley, 31, of Amissville, to look for ghosts. In July, Mr. Kelley pleaded guilty to breaking and entering. His five year sentence was suspended and he received two years supervised probation.
There was testimony during the trial that the defendants had concealed themselves in the house when the police first arrived and called for those in the house to come out. The judge agreed that they had concealed themselves, but said that "viewing the evidence it does not show they intended to commit larceny," and therefore dismissed the breaking and entering charge.
