With little fanfare the Planning Commission made minor revisions to the proposed new Comprehensive Plan ; and forwarded it to the Board of Supervisors for action.
Chairman Mike Massie said the process of reviewing * the plan had been beneficial. He noted that at a forum at the ' high school to see what people had to say about what they liked about the county and what would improve it, someone suggested the county needed a pub, and without any action on the part of the planners, a pub opened. At another forum at Chester Gap there was a suggestion that the county need- ; ed a senior citizens center, and again without any action mi » the part of the Planning Commission, one has opened. »
Of course, both those establishments are in the Town of I Washington, and the Planning Commission has no jurisdiction in town.
Changes made in the plan include putting more emphasis on trying to provide recreational opportunities. A suggestion by RLEP that the Comprehensive Plan treat the county's secondary roads as natural resources was rejected. ' Mr. Massie said natural resources include such irreplaceable things as air and water and that roads are replaceable.
