Raffle Success
To the Editor:
The Fourth Annual Grand Raffle Draw Down and Dinner Dance proved to be another grand success for the Rappahannock Lions Club.
Our members are most appreciative for all the loyal support of community friends and guests who joined us on Nov. 9th to make the party so memorable for fun and fellowship.
Chairman Butch Foster managed the gala event efficiently with fine support from well trained Lions who have learned their special skills through recent grand raffle experience. It was the smoothest and most exciting draw down raffle we have encountered (even when the numbers we held didn't win).
Of course it was a lot more fun for the big winners. When the surviving ten ticket holders (out of 150) were assembled and shouts of "go for it" rang out, the gutsy goers kept on going until only three lucky numbers were left. So the $5,000 grand prize was split three ways.
A consortium of five had split one ticket, each receiving instant cash of $333.33 including winners Janice Johnson, Jan Thomas, Phil Smith, Mike Mahoney and J.R. Goolsby. Theresa Light and Harry Purdy won full thirds, checks for $1,666.67 each.
