Christmas Food Drive at RCES
Rappahannock County Elementary School students will have the opportunity to learn that giving can be as rewarding as receiving by participating in the ninth annual Christmas food drive. Food and supplies will be collected in boxes located in the RCES lobby from Dec. 2 to Dec. 18th. For further information please call Mrs. Candy Lamma, Guidance Counselor, at RCES, 987-8259.
Alumni Tournament Planned
The Rappahannock County High School Athletic Department will sponsor the 8th Annual Alumni Basketball Tournament on Friday, Nov. 29 and Saturday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. .in the high school gymnasium. For more information call Kelly Settle at the high school, 987-8575.
Annual Christmas Dinner
The Washington Volunteer Fire Department will serve its annual Christmas Dinner on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the fire hall. This special five-course holiday dinner will feature stuffed comish hen, wild rice and vegetables. Appetizer, soup, salad, desert and beverages are also included in the cost of the dinner. Advance reservations fro the dinner are $13 for adults. You may purchase tickets at the door ($14 for - adults). Dinner for children twelve and under is $5. Apple Butter Available
The Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department made apple butter over - the weekend and it is now available at the cost of $16 a gallon or $4 a quart. All proceeds will benefit the fire department. To get yours call Jeff at 636-3279 or 635-5482.
Parenting Training Sessions Set
Free training entitled, Effective Parenting of Teenagers is going on now and will continue for six sessions at the Rappahannock Elementary School. Each meeting will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m, and is open to the public. For more information and to register, call Valerie at 675-3313.
Brunch at Oasis Winery
The Oasis Winery will be hosting their annual Champagne Brunch at the Winery in the Grand Tasting room at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7. The Flint Hill Public House Chefs are the guest chefs this year and will cater this gourmet brunch. The brunch will be accompanied by a live demonstration on the methods used in making sparkling wines on the Oasis bottling line system. Please call for the menu to be faxed or E-mailed, 6357627. Sheep Dog Trial Set
The Leeds Manor Sheep Dog Trial will be held Saturday, December 8th at the Seven E Ranch on Route 635 (Hume Road). This trial, sponsored by the Virginia Border Collie Association, will be part of the annual awards program and dinner which will be held on Dec. 7, at the Leeds Parish Hall.
The Virginia Border Collie Association was formed in 1980 to promote the use of working sheep dogs, encourage agricultural pursuits and, for folks like me, provides an opportunity to have an outdoor hobby. A donation of $1 at the gate is requested.
