Seasonal Safety
Select decorative light strings that arc UL approved, as they have already passed the Underwriters Laboratories' safety tests. Never use outdoor light sets for a tree set up inside the home.
Check all light cords and connections for fraying, exposed wires or other types of damage. Look over the bulbs as well, bare spots and peeling paint indicate (he lights could be generating too much heat.
Keep the tree well watered to avoid premature drying and inspect tree branches occasionally for dry spots that could ignite more easily. Make sure to keep lights and extension cords away from water-filled tree stands. Unplug light strands before retiring to bed and whenever you leave the house.
Beautiful trees and shiny ornaments are almost irresistible to curious toddlers. Try to place the tree high out of their reach, or in an area of the house they don't frequently play in. Avoid glass ornaments that break easily (at least down low) and tinsel (hat is made from lead.if you have young children jn your home.^
