The loss of water at the elementary school Tuesday led to an unpleasant incident at the school Friday, which resulted in a parent being barred from school property. /
Late in the late morning of Tuesday, Jan. 21, the school lost water pressure. Bottled water was brought into the cafeteria. Two buses were brought into service to take elementary school students to the high school to use the bathrooms. The cafeteria switched to foam trays and disposable utensils.
Since school authorities did not know when water would be restored, elementary school students were told they might want to bring bottled water to school Wednesday, but no note explaining the situation was sent home.
By Wednesday water pressure was restored, and students were allowed to use the bathrooms, but the school continued to use bottled water for drinking. Superintendent David Gangel explained that whenever the system is drained, such as happens when pressure is lost, sediments on the bottom of tanks are stirred up, and the water comes out discolored.
