After the den races, the number one car from each of the fire dens moved up to the Pack Championship race. At this level, all the cars were fast,, and there were two extremely close heats which had to be rerun, adding to the suspense.
When the last heat was over, it was / clear that the fastest car in Pack 123, a sleek red and black racer, belonged to Brian Brown. Buster Brown's yellow school bus was a close second, followed by Max Haines' flashy black, red and yellow racer which took third place.
All the derby cars showed remarkable creativity and craftsmanship.
