as part of this program, and to eventually dovetail the developing database with that of similar monitoring efforts in the Shenandoah National Park and of Soil and Water Conservation Districts and the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). Interested participants should call the 4-H office.
Later in the year, during the month of July, Ragged Mountain will be working with the Middle Street Gallery and the county library on producing an art-and-education juried show and panel discussion tentatively entitled "Water".
Last but not least, Ragged Mountain will help coordinate an expanded countywide cleanup effort this spring, and is asking the community at large to participate by helping identify problem areas and selecting designated stretches of roads and streams to be responsible for cleaning up. School groups, citizens groups, businesses, neighborhoods and hollows, country stores all could "adopt" or sponsor a road or stream and help make this an effort to be proud of !
A "Clean-Up Party" is being planned with numerous musical groups in the county as a fun/fund raiser for these and other Ragged Mountain programs. Contributions to the ongoing programs and efforts of the Ragged Mountain Resource Center and its staff are always welcomed and are vitally needed at this time.
