On May 29, 30, and 31, the fifth annual Graves’ Mountain Festival of Music at Graves’ Mountain Lodge in Syria, will showcase nineteen of the world’s top bluegrass performers. This year’s program, supplemented with special tributes and jam sessions, will include groups and individual musicians who won top awards from the International Bluegrass Music Association last fall.
The festival will begin at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 29 with Willow Branch, a band from Charlottesville. They will be followed by the James King Band, Blue Highway, and Charlie Waller and the Country Gentlemen. Charlie Waller is celebrating his 40th year as a Country Gentlemen and the group was recently inducted into the IBMA Hall of Honor. A gospel group from Georgia, the Lewis Family, will be making their first appearance a the festival on Thursday.
The show opens at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 30 with the Dry Branch Fire Squad. Other artists appearing are the Reno Brothers, the Stevens Family, the Del McCoury Band — IBMA entertainers of the year, Illrd Tyme Out — vocal group of the year, and Mark Newton, Bill Emerson and the New Group.
