“The Rappahannock County Lions Club salutes the service and dedication of our law enforcement professionals. May is Law Enforcement Month in Virginia. This is a special time to reflect on the tremendous service, dedication, and sacrifice our law enforcement professionals perform on the behalf of all others. We are particularly mindful at this time of those who have become injured or deceased in the performance of duty. To these great citizens and their families we extend our sincere gratitude and our deepest sympathy. To all who are involved in the enforcement of our laws: thank you and may God bless you.”

On April 14, my daughter had the misfortune of having to be in Washington, Va., to deliver tax papers to a client of mine on Gay Street.
Not knowing where Gay Street was, she ran past it and had to turn around and come back. While looking for Gay Street, she rolled past a stop sign that she did not see. One of Rappahannock’s many deputies was looking for someone to give a summons gave her a ticket for failing to stop at a stop sign.
She was required to pay $29 in court cost for the privilege of sitting in court two hours, given 6 months probation to have no offenses and required to take a driver improvement course.
