Jacob Weaver and Alice Defontaine Amiss Weaver, he reminisced about how Amissville got its name.
It seems there were two principal families in what is now Amissville, the Bayse and Amiss families. They wanted to put a Post Office in and so the area had to be named. Both families wanted the area named for them so they put it to a vote. As luck would have it, there was one more Amiss than Bayse, and since 1810 it has been Amissville.
