Renovations
A roofing subcommittee meeting was held to set upr a priority list for roof renovations: first, in 1998, the RCHS shop roof and sealing the elementary school roof to “buy a few years”; second, in the summer of 1999, the new wing of RCHS; third, in the summer of 2000, the main structure of RCHS; fourth, after that the RCES roof needs to be renovated, as well as routine maintenance all along.
The capital improvements plan includes restroom renovations in both schools involving plumbing, ventilation, electrical, tile and drywall work. This is much more complex than the roofing renovations because £o many different subcontractors will have to schedule work over the summer, said Gangel. Changing the RCHS coal fueled boiler to an oil fueled one is possibly another capital need, he added. »
Gangel said he hopes to present a capital improvements plan to the board of supervisors in November. ;
The RCHS roof renovation is now complete. There is la two-year warranty on 100 percent of the contractor’s work and a 20-year warranty on leaks from the metal roofing.'
There is a problem with incomplete work done on file cafeteria roof at RCES. The roof leaks and is not securely fastened to the building. Only about one-half of the money (over $20,000) has been paid to the contractor, L.A. Restorations, and if he does not complete the job soon, another contractor will be called in to finish it, said Gangel.
