The annual Fall meeting of District N of the Virginia Retired Teachers Association was held at the Flint Hill Public House with the Rappahannock County unit as hosts.
President Jerry Casey presided and led the flag pledges. Barbara Gentry gave the “thought for the day” using the theme Why Worry? We were welcomed by Dorothy Butler, president of Rappahannock County Retired Teachers Association and with a special welcome by Hubert Gilkey, chairman of the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors.
This was followed by a business session and committee reports. A treasurer’s report was given and the minutes of the last meeting were approved with a correction.
Lucia Kilby of the Rappahannock unit introduced the speaker Mary Ann Biggs, Assistant Superintendent of Rappahannock County Schools. Mrs. Biggs came to Rappahannock as a eighth grade teacher. She later taught at Handley High in Winchester, was an assistant principal in Rappahannock and a principal in Clarke County. She returned to Rappahannock in 1995 as Assistant
