The Celtic music of Linn Barnes and Allison Hampton comes to The Theatre at Washington, Va. this Saturday.
Both native Washingtonians, their love of the area brought them to Rappahannock initially to visit friends and then to live part-time.
This concert will mark the third time they’ve played at The Theatre. They are real favorites said The Theatre’s Wendy Weinberg.
Barnes and Hampton both studied classical Renaissance music at American University and have been playing together since then.
They became interested in 18th icentury Irish music and found out about an Irish composer, Turlough D’Carolan.
Only fragments of his compositions are left but that did not present a problem for Barnes and ' Hampton. In fact, they relished the challenge, for they took the pieces of his compositions and put together a whole.
