On Sept. 27, a courageous company of 25 made their annual pilgrimage to the Bolen Family Cemetery on Pignut Mountain in Shenandoah National Park. This year there was a new attendee, Judy Gore. Our oldest attendee was Mable Bowen McClanahan of Warrenton. Although she was familiar with the place etc., it had been many years since she’s been here.
We met at 10:30 and proceeded up Keyser Run Fire Road to our destination. The (fay before this writer and his sister and niece “tried” the road to see if it was passable, lb our sjLirprise, with no maintenance liaving been done for some time, We made it with only having to remove one downed locust about four inches in diameter. We went all the way to the graveyard and while there cut the grass so as it wouldn’t have to be done on the morrow.
Among the others making the trip, all relatives and descendants of those interred in the cemetery were Clyde and Lillie D. Pullen, Charlie
