Dr. John Tble, chairman of the Rappahannock County School Board, said the board plans on abbreviating the monthly meetings by having more subcommittes meetings.
The board met on Oct. 14, and reports from an initial subcommittee meeting on the Rappahannock County High School roof were made.
The board approved 176 field trips for the year as well as the senior trip to Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Champion, Pa. and a competitive band trip to Orlando, Fla. in May (both dependent upon the RCHS principal’s review).

Dr. David Gangel, superintendent of schools, said the Rappahannock Board of Supervisors approved the October appropriation at their meeting on Oct. 6. The state and federal fiscal years do not coincide and there is always uncertainity about what federal money the school will be receiving.
Adjustment is made in October when the board of supervisors gives the school money that came mainly from federal funds, such as Title 1 ($10,480.35), Eisenhower Grant for teacher training ($5,346.75), special education ($10,769) and VPSA-educational technology funds ($26,300).
Money for the roof construction ($205,455.66) had to be taken out of the school’s general budget and refunded by the supervisors.
The roof is completed except for checking for any residual mold from the water leakage.
