In 1994 Argo made another film in Rappahannock County called “The Last Frog.” The film received an Emmy, Best of Festival at the 1997 Missoula International Wildlife Film Festival and Best Short Film at the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival. It examines the world of frogs and their mysterious decline around the globe.
Another film by Argo, “The Urban Gorilla,” was filmed partly in the Congo and dealt with gorillas in captivity. It received the prestigious duPont-Columbia Silver Baton. Other films by Argo include “Keepers in the Wild,” Extraordinary Dogs,” and “Snake Invasion,” which received an Emmy. Her films have been nominated for six Emmys.
Argo was raised “in the theater” and grew up acting. She has been writing, producing and directing for 10 years, she said. She moved from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C. five years ago and she met Brenda Van Ness from notices she hung up at National Geographic for the perfect frog pond.
Robert Walz, Van Ness’ brother, referred Argo to Sperryville.
Argo expressed appreciation for the help and support she received from county residents. The crew said they appreciated Carol Little of Amissville catering their meals throughout the filming.
