Water flowing upward in a tree is called sap. Occasionally this is incorrectly compared to blood as it circulates through the body of an animal. Sap. which is mostly water, does not flow around and around nor is there a pump, like the heart, to keep it circulating.
Sap just streams upward through the trunk to the branches, from there into the twigs and finally into leaves which dissipate it out into the air.
