I felt pain when I read your
headline “Hawkins pleads guilty to felony charge” (Oct. 8). I hope the article will not discourage her as she fights to rehabilitate herself.
On her day of sentencing, Denise admitted to the court that she is an alcoholic. Her drinking-and-driving offenses occurred last spring, before she signed herself into a rehabilitation center, before she joined Alcoholics Anonymous,
