The marriage of Sheryl Lynn Roberts and Lee John Updike took place Sept. 13 at Barnes United Methodist Church in Newsoms. Rev. Kenneth Williams, assisted by Rev. £)erek Koolman, performed the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Kathleen H. Roberts of Schererville, Ind. and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas R. Roberts of Punta Gorda, Fla.
She is the maternal granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Primich of Merrillville, Ind. and the late Mr. Michael Cisarik and paternal granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy L. Roberts of Port Charlotte, Fla.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn H. Updike of Newsoms, Va. and the maternal grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lee L. Thorpe of Newsoms and the paternal grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. John B. Updike of Washington.
The couple placed a single floral arrangement on the alter in memory of the bride’s grandfather and her uncle who is lost at sea and the groom’s grandparents.
Music was provided by Triangle Brass Quintet.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her family. She carried a cascade bouquet of orchids, white roses, ivy and tea leaves.
The bride’s mother served as her maid of honor and her stepmother, Mrs. Susan Roberts, was her matron of honor.
