Shaffer said no and Slade said that two. bills had passed the House of Representatives that are not entirely favorable to libraries. The concern is over privately held documents that libraries would be charged for access to. Libraries now can invoke the fair use doctrine to access documents free of charge. Slade said he would keep the board informed on the matter.
In the report of the treasurer Helen Platt said tne FAX and supply categories will be over budget but those funds can be supplemented from other categories that are well under budget. Money from the endowment fund has not even been touched and there will be additional monies from investments. The board approved a motion to pay out only the amounts necessary to pay the bills that must be paid to end the fiscal
