During the 27th commencement ceremonies at Lord Fairfax Community College, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Kummli of Rappahannock County announced a major gift to the college sharing the spotlight with the graduates.
The Kummlis donated a parcel of land in Dale City valued at a minimum of $650,000. This contribution will be designated for the college’s Building Community Major Gift Campaign.
The goal of the major gifts campaign is to build and equip a 72,000 square foot Community Cultural Center. The gift increases the level of commitments to the projects to nearly $4 million.
The Kummlis have been associated with Lord Fairfax Community College since 1992. Alfred Kummli currently serves as Foundation Board Chairman representing Rappahannock County. His commitment is truly outstanding and he and his wife, Klara, give generously of their resources, time and energies to LFCC. The Kummlis sponsor a Lord Fairfax Community College scholarship each year to a resident of Rappahannock County who is in financial need.
Kummli is a life-long advocate of higher education. He earned his masonry apprenticeship and studied three years at the Academy for Builders in Switzerland prior to coming to the United States in 1958. He has had a truly distinguished career in building and development. At one point in his career he was building over 300 townhouses
