The minutes \ were approved from the August meeting and Elaine Viguerie read the treasurer’s report. Total consolidated assets were listed as $271,127.67. Water charges for August were $5,120.09 and $1,994.26 was more than 30 days overdue. During the past month 1,374,500 gallons were pumped and 80,900 gallons were used in backwash, or water pumped but not bilfcd. This was about 40,000 gallons more than usual due to a faulty valve. The valve was repaired with no permanent damage, said the mayor.

• Willis said he would write a letter to Milton Herd, town planner, stating that the council believes it had sufficient information to proceed with the comprehensive plan and would not need his services anymore. Ray Gooch asked if Willis knew the council’s position regarding Herd’s contract. Willis said he would look into whether it included a final report beyond the “final draft.”

• A field trip is scheduled on Sept. 16 to Watoga State Park in Marlinton, W.Va. to see a wastewater treatment system. It is a similar system that was recommended by the feasibility study. Kaye Kohler is scheduling car pools. Cars will leave at 9 a.m. from the town hall and should arrive in time for lunch, a tour of the facility and return about 9 p.m.

• Ray Gooch said only one bid had come in for the bulletin board the council is planning for advertising local businesses. Two contractors asked for more time to prepare their bids and Gooch said he expected to have them by the October meeting.

• Reynolds said that Hampton Title Agency is still in the process of researching the titles of the town cemeteries on Fodderstack Road.
