statement does say that Sperryville welcomes visitors and businesses, but it adds “ ... who have a commitment to living and working in ways that cherish and protect our natural and historic resources and celebrate the diversity of our people.” Omitting this phrase drastically weakens the intent of those who worked so hard to write it.
The town of Sperryville is in a very fortunate position. It is faced with the opportunity to chart its own course into the future. Now is the time to choose not to be another cookie cutter town — the likes of which are turning eastern Virginia into one vast strip mall.
