Just in time for hunting season, the board of supervisors last week enacted an ordinance prohibiting the hunting of game birds and game animals on or within 100 yards of a primary or secondary road. This local option law had been adopted originally in 1986 but without specifying penalties; this time, the board categorized violation as a class II misdemeanor, which is punishable by up to six months in jail and/or a $500 fine. A meeting of people interested in bringing college courses to Rappahannock will be held Sunday, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. at Middle Street Gallery. The Rappahannock Education Action Project or REAP will be working with Virginia’s community college and university system. -
