Following the “Dukes”, Ben made a living doing commercials and singing, and then took a shot at a Georgia congressional seat in 1986. That initial attempt was unsuccessful, but it was try, try again, and Ben Jones was elected to Congress in 1988 and in 1990. Ben suffered the fate of redistricting in 1992, and last attempted to regain a Congressional seat in 1994, running against and losing to Newt Gingrich.'
Following his Congressional career, Ben elected to repair some old knee injuries, having six operations, and then returned to acting. He has and still does lots of TV, has played in three features films including “Primary Colors” with John Travolta, and is scheduled for a role in Stanley Tucci’s “Joe Gould’s Secret.”
