Mrs. Puryear reported on the D-Day Memorial being erected in Bedford titled “Across the Beach, Then and Now”. Bedford was chosen for this site as the town lost more persons per capita in W. W. II than any other community in the nation.
On June 16, memorial services and the placing of DAR markers will be held at the graves of Virginia Glover in Haywood and of Christobel Wetsel at the Graham Cemetery in Orange.
The Option Program, a Culpeper sponsored group, will clean the DAR marker and area around the grave next to the Yowell Meadow Park as an ongoing project.
