The Culpeper Minute Men Chapter, NSDAR, met at the Holiday Inn in Culpeper for a luncheon meeting. The speaker, Frank Walker, historian and reenactor, and dressed in colonial garb, spoke on “George Washington and His Other Women”.
The most important was his mother who dominated him much of his early life. At one point, he was packed and ready to leave to join the British Navy when she arrived and put an immediate stop to those plans, thereby saving George for this country.
Secondly was his sister, Betty Lewis, who supported him in all his endeavors and thirdly was Sally Fairfax, the love of his life, although his marriage to Martha was a happy and comfortable one.
