Hackley’s, don’t be surprised if you’re assisted by Brad Nicholas, the proprietor; his mother Nancy; father Farrell; sister-in-law Rhonda; brother Brett; his Uncle Graham or his Aunt Dorothy. It really is a family affair. Brad recalls helping his Uncle Graham starting at age 13. You’re encouraged to stop by and reminisce about old times with Graham and Dorothy.
The first Hackley’s Store was established in 1934, they’re celebrating their 65th anniversary this year.
Hackley’s Country Store is open from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Monday thru Saturday. The store serves made-toorder breakfast sandwiches and deli sandwiches, including their famous country ham and BBQ. They serve hand-dipped ice cream, deli meats and cheeses are available by the pound, as well as chicken salad, tuna, and coleslaw. The store also carries a wide variety of groceries, hardware, feed, hay, top soil, mulch, fertilizer, and dry goods.

Amissville is a close-knit community. It has a great history. It was first settled in 1763 by Joseph Amiss. Local Katherino Riley, 85, is a direct descendant of Joseph Amiss. The post office was established in 1810, with Thomas Amiss the first postmaster.
