If you are within the broadcast range of a public radio station, you will probably be exposed to a semiannual fundraising plea that interrupts the airing of “All Things Considered” or another of your favorite NPR shows.
If you are within driving, distance of Castleton, your exposure to a fundraiser will be a performance at perhaps one of the best little theaters on earth, and for your contribution you will have the distinct pleasure of hearing, seeing, and sharing some time with Lorin and Dietlinde Maazel, a pianist of the caliber of Yefim Bronfman, or a cellist like the incomparable Han-Na Chang.
Those who had the good fortune and good sense to attend this past weekend’s performances did not need to weather onair pleas for money, but did enjoy an intimate interlude with world-class artists and their hosts, and had occasion to see the beneficiaries of The Ch—teauville Foundation: The Theater House and the Hearthstone school.
