Shimmering Meadows Farm Studio is pleased to announce it will be hosting a watercolor painting workshop conducted by master watercolorist and landscape painter Steve Flemming: Painting the Landscapes of the Blue Ridge on Oct. 22-25.
Ah emphasis on painting the effects of light, the use of expressive colors, the application of paint, and the use of good design choices in the painting process will be stressed. Flemming is dedicated to sharing with the student all of the information that he knows about the painting and creative process.
The workshop is designed with a plan to teach all aspects of making a good painting. Each day a lesson on one part of the plan, (i.e., how to paint a sunny day or mixing vibrant grays and greens) is presented. Flemming then proceeds to do a demonstration which covers the fundamentals of the daily lesson.
Flemming holds a BA from Old Dominion University and has been painting in watercolor for over 25 years. He has studied with some of the top instructors in the country including Skip Lawrence, Charles Reid, Rex Brandt, Robert Wood, and Bob Wade. He has been teaching watercolor painting classes at The Art League School located in Alexandria, for the last four years, and has two very successful painting videos and also teaches workshops nationally and internationally.
The workshop will be held at Shimmering Meadows Farm Studio located between Sperryville and Culpeper. Shimmering Meadows with views of Old Rag Mountain offers 31 scenic and private acres on which to paint. In case of rain students will work in the fully equipped teaching studio located on the premises.
