Autumn tennis instruction

Anyone interested in tennis lessons should contact Hunt Harris at the Ragged Mountain Resource Center, 987-3366. He will be offering a limited number of sessions this autumn for adults as well as youth on all levels (beginner through advanced competition). There is a sliding-scale fee system based on the number of participants in a group, and individual instruction is also available.

Wildlife program planned

There seems to be a real need for public exposure to enhancing and learning about our native wildlife, as one of the assets of Rappahannock County. So a program has been set, at the Rappahannock Library, on Oct. 29 covering two main subjects: White Tail Deer in Rappahannock County - Problems and Possible Solutions! and Attracting Quail and Turkey to our property. The presentations will be given by two Virginia game biologists, Dan Love lace, Senior Game Biologist and Patty Moore, State of Virginia Quail Specialist. For more information call 675-3152.

Halloween costume dance set

A family Halloween costume dance will be held Friday, Oct. 29 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Washington School on Mt. Salem Avenue. The cost is $2 per person or $6 per family maximum. All children, pre-school age through seventh grade and parents are welcomed. Children under ten must have a parent present. Drinks and food will be available for purchase. Proceeds will benefit the Child Care and Learning Center’s After School Club.

4-H Pickin * Party scheduled

There will be a 4-H Pickin’ Party at the Sperryville fire hall on Friday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. 4-H volunteers will be selling barbecue dinner platters and having a 50/50 raffle as a fund raiser for 4-H. There is no charge for admittance. There will be absolutely no alcohol permitted on the property and no smoking in the building. Everyone is welcome to come and bring his or her voice or instrument and join in the fun! For more information call the Extension Office at 675-3619.
