At its February meeting, the Rappahannock County Library’s Board of Trustees lamented the deaths of two County residents who served as long-time library volunteers. The Board moved to offer resolutions of appreciation to the families of Frances Thornton, who served as a library volunteer for over 20 years, and for Richard Abell, who volunteered his time for nearly 20 years.
Library Director David Shaffer also suggested that offers of donations from friends of Mrs. Thornton and Mr. Abell be accepted and used for the purchase of books, and the Board agreed to the suggestion by consensus. Mr. Shaffer expressed his feeling about their passing when he said, “It’s hard to walk through the library without thinking about those two . . .”
